VERDICT – LOOK AT OTHER PRODUCTS
Boombod is trendy and the packaging looks great. If you want to be photographed holding the product and post on Instagram then this the product for you.
The Boombod advertising machine is in full flow. The celebrity endorsements are everywhere. Do you really trust this sort of product? That is the real question.
If your intention is real, qualified and clinically proven weight loss we would suggest you invest your time and hopes in something else. One product we highly recommend is PhenQ – a multi action fat burner and appetite reducer.
Boombod Review – What is it?
These days, women who want to lose weight and need a product to help them are spoiled for choice.
There are many options available. Some of them are good, others not so good, and still others are downright terrible. Finding an option that really works can be hard.
Many women prefer to go with products that appear to be made especially for women and any product that carries one or more celebrity endorsements can be very attractive indeed.
This is the case with Boombod. It’s a weight-loss drink that gets a lot of attention thanks to several celebrity endorsements.
The former Page-3 girl Katie Price is one of several UK celebrities pushing the product in the UK and the model and entrepreneur Blac Chyna is giving Boombod a marketing push Stateside.
A few other US celebrities are doing the same.
It’s rare for a weight loss product to get such a lot of celebrity endorsements.
No wonder so many women see Boombod as being trendy.
One endorsement that didn’t quite out as intended was from Gemma Collins – a well known UK based media personality. Her before and after images were not exactly inspiring.
However, many of the celebrities endorsing the product are only doing so because they are being paid to do so and some of them have gone too far.
In the UK, Katy Perry and Lauren Goodger (British glamour model and TV personality) made claims on Instagram that caused them to run foul of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The ASA said the two celebs were making claims that were not EU authorized and promoting the product in an irresponsible manner.
The ASA was also concerned about the photo of Lauren Goodger, which appeared to have been edited to make her look thinner.
The offending posts were banned. As were several ads posted directly to social media by Boombod.
If there’s a lesson here, it’s don’t take anything at face value.
Who Makes Boombod and What Does It Do?
Boombod is a weight management supplement made in the UK by Boombod Ltd.
The company was founded in 2013 and was originally trading as WE R Brand Ltd. It changed its name to Boombod in February 2016.
Although the company is mainly targeting women with its original product, there is nothing that would make it unsuitable for men.
In fact, after the success of its first product, it came out with a Boombod for Men. They call it Boombod Black.
Apart from a few tweaks to the vitamin and mineral content, Boombod and Boombod Black are practically the same.
According to the marketing material, Boombod provides women with a quick and easy way to lose weight.
In keeping with its trendy image, Boombod refers to its weight-loss drink as shots.
The standard pack size is the 7-Day achiever. It contains 21 shots.
That’s enough to last a week. Each shot is provided in a little sachet that contains the correct dose. That’s nice. It makes the product easier to use.
However, the cost of using this product for a month is unusually expensive.
That’s not so nice. Especially when you discover it’s actually quite a simple product.
Three shots are necessary each day. They have names that make it obvious when you should take them:
- Morning Energizer
- Afternoon Motivator
- Night Rejuvenator
All three shots contain the same key weight loss ingredient—glucomannan. It’s an appetite suppressant.
The main thing to know is, plenty of research shows it works. For the rest, all you are getting is a few vitamins and minerals.
Main Benefits and Selling Points of Boombod
This is what Boombod tells customers to expect:
- Provides a clinically-proven ingredient
- Decreases bloating
- Banishes naughty cravings
- Provides a quick and tasty way to lose weight without being hungry
In addition to suppressing hunger, each shot has the task of delivering certain specific benefits:
- Aid energy and metabolism (Morning Energizer)
- Reduce afternoon weariness and fatigue (Afternoon Motivator)
- Rejuvenate the hair and skin (Night Rejuvenator)
Ingredients and Nutritional Value
Okay. Seeing is believing. Let’s take a look at the list of ingredients.
If you take some time comparing the three formulations, you’ll see there isn’t a lot of difference between them.
Apart from providing the same dose of glucomannan, all three provide certain nutrients that are the same.
For instance, all three shots provide 1.50 mg of zinc. All three also contain Riboflavin. Night Rejuvenator contains slightly more than the other two shots, but not enough to write home about.
Two out of three shots contain Vitamin B6.
Some nutrients are specific to the shot they sit in but you could just as easily take a standard multivitamin and mineral once a day and probably receive similar nutritional benefits.
How Good Is the Boombod Formulation?
The most important ingredient is glucomannan. It’s the one that’s going to keep your stomach full so let’s take a look at it first.
Glucomannan (For Appetite Suppression)
Glucomannan is a plant extract. It comes from the konjac plant (Amorphophallus konjac).
Konjac grows in many eastern countries and people in the east know it by a variety of names including voodoo lilly and devil’s tongue.
The ingredient used in diet pills is taken from the roots, which can be milled to produce a flour.
Although it is low in calories, the flour is used in certain Asian dishes and also for making confectionery.
For reasons that will become obvious, one of the things it’s used for is making a popular Asian jelly snack.
Konjac roots are high in water-soluble fiber.
The most interesting thing about it is it’s amazingly absorbent. It can absorb up to 50 times its own weight in water.
When konjac fibers (glucomannan) are fully hydrated they expand considerably and form a gelatinous mass. Supplement manufacturers take advantage of this by adding glucomannan to diet pills.
When glucomannan jellies in the stomach, it provides a feeling of satiety that suppresses the appetite naturally.
Researchers have put glucomannan’s appetite-suppressing ability to the test in countless clinical trials. There’s plenty of evidence that proves the ingredient works.
Experts at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have examined all the important data. The EFSA confirms glucomannan’s value as a weight loss aid.
However, the EFSA points out the ingredient will only work if people use it in a similar way to the participants taking part in the clinical trials.
To get good results from glucomannan, you need to do four things:
- Take three doses are each day, before your main meals
- Take at least one full gram of glucomannan every time (3g per day)
- Drink one to two full glasses of water with each dose
- Use glucomannan alongside a low-energy diet
Vitamins and Minerals (For Additional Benefits)
Vitamins and minerals are important.
We all need them and we need to get most of them every day. However, if you are eating sensibly and making wise food choices you should get all the nutrients you require from your food.
However, around 50% of people are deficient in Vitamin D. It’s an important vitamin so it’s good to get a top-up.
Unfortunately, only Night Rejuvenator provides Vitamin D and it only contains 0.75 ug (0.75 mcg).
The guidelines for Vitamin D suggest adults get at least 10 mcg per day. The amount Boombod provides doesn’t even scratch the surface.
The form they use may also make the formulation unsuitable for vegans and many vegetarians (more on that later in this review).
Will the sachets provide any of the additional benefits, Boombod is promising? Possibly.
Morning Energizer and Afternoon Motivator contain B Vitamins and B Vitamins help the body extract energy from food (aid energy metabolism). In so doing, they can make you feel more energetic and could prevent fatigue.
Night Rejuvenator has biotin, which is known to be good for the hair and skin.
In theory, everything stacks up, but let’s not forget a good multivitamin and mineral would do the same things and would probably provide a more generous dose of Vitamin D.
How to Use Boombod – Usage Guidelines and Considerations
You take Boombod three times a day, before meals.
Here is the official Boombod video explaining how it works and how to use
To make the drink, get a medium-size glass and quarter-fill it with water. Rip open the sachet, pour it into the glass, and mix it in. Drink the concoction fast. If you don’t it will jellify in the glass and become difficult/unpleasant to consume.
Next, drink one full glass of water. If you don’t, the glucomannan will not be able to do its job.
Boombod points out you will need to use its product alongside a low-calorie diet.
What Vegetarians Need to Consider
There are a few things to bear in mind before using this supplement. First of all, if you are a vegetarian, Boombod may not be for you.
The marketing material states the formulation is suitable for vegetarians but doesn’t mention vegans. Unless you know a little about supplement ingredients, the reason for this won’t be apparent.
There are two types of Vitamin D supplement manufacturers can use.
- Vitamin D2
- Vitamin D3
Although Vitamin D2 comes from plants and is always vegan-friendly, Vitamin D3 is a different matter. It’s often taken from sheep’s wool. You can also get it from lichen, which is a vegan-friendly source.
If Boombod was marked vegan-friendly it would be safe to assume it has Vitamin D3 from lichens. However, it is not marked Vegan Friendly. Only vegetarian-friendly.
This suggests Boombod may be presuming vegetarians will find it acceptable to consume a sheep wool derivative. In reality, some might do while others may not.
If you are pregnant or nursing a child, it is unwise to use any dietary supplement without consulting a doctor first.
If you have existing health issues or would need to use Boombod alongside medication it’s also important to get professional advice before using this supplement.
Glucomannan can lower blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. It can also interfere with your ability to absorb medications.
Unless you are in good health, it always pays to be precocious before using any brand of supplement for the first time.
What Customers are Saying About Boombod
Some customers seem happy with Boombod while others say it doesn’t work. There are also lots of complaints about the texture and taste.
A COUPLE OF HAPPY CUSTOMERS SAY
A COUPLE OF DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS SAY
Does Boombod Cause Side Effects?
A number of Boombod customer reviews mention side effects. In most cases the issues are stomach-related but one customer mentions breaking out in a rash.
It’s hard to say why this may be. However, the formulation uses glucomannan in sulphite form.
Some people are very sensitive to sulphites and can have a bad allergic reaction.
It may also be because Boombod is manufactured with equipment that processes products containing milk, nuts, shellfish, fish, and soya. All of these can cause an allergic reaction in some people.
The possibility of traces of milk, fish, and shellfish in the formulation is also something vegans and vegetarians need to be aware of.
Buying Options (Where to Get Boombod and What It Costs)
Most people may find it easiest to order Boombod directly from the manufacturer’s site. It’s generally a lot cheaper to buy via Amazon.
The price on the Boombod website is generally around USD $40 for a 7-day supply. If you buy via Amazon it often cuts the price in half.
There are three main variations of packages:
- 7 Day Achiever – $39.99 / £29.99
- 14 Day Achiever – $79.98 / £59.98
- 28 Day Achiever – $159.96 / £119.96
Does Boombod Have a Guarantee?
Boombod does not have a money-back guarantee.
Boombod Review Conclusion (Is Boombod Worth the Money?)
The good thing about the product is it contains a clinically-proven appetite suppressant. The bad thing about it is the price.
This is an expensive product and, all things considered, you aren’t getting a lot for your money.
Any cheap glucomannan pills will take away appetite in a similar way if you use them in the way the EFSA guidelines recommend.
As for the extra nutrients the formulation provides, how important are they?
If you need extra energy in the morning or something to perk you up in the afternoon, a cup of coffee should do it. So could a vitamin pill that provides B vitamins.
A good vitamin pill would also provide biotin for your hair and skin. More importantly, it would help prevent a deficiency in Vitamin D.
Boombod is a flashy product that should do what it’s meant to do but is ridiculously overrated and overpriced.

Boombod can be used by anyone – men as well. The pink packaging may deter so the manufacturers have introduced Boombod Black – a more male focused weight loss drink.
